1. Foods to cool your body

                                   
Fruits – Best fruits for summer are watermelons, muskmelons, and citrus fruits
  1. Watermelons are full of water and are great as juice or just chopped up.

  2. Muskmelons and other varieties of melon are also cooling and healthy in the heat.

  3. Citrus fruits break down fatty food and help in digestion and hence are cooling. (Tip: Don’t eat fruits sold by roadside vendors. Instead buy the fruits and cut them up at home)   

  • Cucumber – This water-filled vegetable can be eaten as a snack any time of the day and is great in salads and raithas. (Tip: Place two circles of sliced cucumber over the eyes to cool them down on a hot day)

  • Coconut water – This is the go-to drink in summer. Coconut water is full of natural electrolytes and gives your body an instant boost especially when you’re exhausted after a long day out in the heat. (Tip: After you drink the water, cut the coconut and eat the soft skin inside. It is tasty and also cooling)

  • Lime and mint – Lime is cooling and in combination, lime and mint make a very refreshing drink which is a great “pick me up” in the summer months.

  • Fresh vegetables – Bring down the consumption of meats in summer as they are not cooling. Instead, eat more fresh vegetables which are light on the stomach and easily digestible. (Don’t overcook the vegetables as it will lose a lot of its natural water)

  • Onions – Did you know that onions have great cooling properties? Onions are said to help protect you against sunstroke. (Tip: Cooking it takes out a lot of the water in onions and so have it raw, in raitha, salads, and chutneys)

7. Finished Reading a Book? Here are some things to do after completing a book.   


          


  • Dear Diary! Create a diary or journal and write at least five entries that might have been written by a character in the book you read.

  • Thumbs up/Thumbs down!  Write a review of the book you just finished reading – in the style of a movie review.

  • Write a letter. Imagine you are a character of your book and write a letter 

  • Interview a character. Compose ten to fifteen questions to ask the main character in the book you read.

  • A different point of view. Write your version of the story's ending (or some other part of the story). What would you have done differently?

  • Create a comic book. Turn your book, or an important part of it, into a comic book, complete with comic-style illustrations and dialogue bubbles.

  • Make a relationship map of all your characters.

  • Write a poem based on the book you read.

  • Make a timeline if the story happens over a very long period, with many things happening at once and the action-changing. How would you like the story to move on?

  • Write a play based on your favorite part of the book.

  • Write a news story based on an exciting episode in the story. Don’t forget the headline!

8. Summer weather! 


 

 Summer is tough to cope up with. But you can make it cooler by planting more trees. Well, you can’t make the earth Cooler in just a day. Spend at least 1-hour planting trees and watering them on your Balcony, Terrace, In your street, or your room. If you don’t want to plant your trees in the above places, You can plant them in an area that is at least 15-20 feet from the house, to prevent problems with roots or with overhanging branches. Research the mature size of the tree or trees you have in mind: A tree with a spreading root system may need to be located farther away from the house.
